New England Railroads: Boston & Albany Railroad

B.  &  A.  R.  R.
JAN     8     1901
WESTFIELD, MASS.

The Boston & Albany was a key piece of the Vanderbilt's New York Central System connecting Boston to the New York Central's mainline heading west. The New York Central and Hudson River RR ran from New York to Albany up the Hudson River Valley and then turned west at Albany for the journey to Buffalo, connecting with the LS&MS in Buffalo for the trip to Chicago.  The map below place Albany at the center of the map, with the B&A heading east from Albany and the NYCHRRR running south and west.
